Andrew Widmark, Executive Chairman, Chairman of the Board

Andrew B. Widmark, J.D., B.S. (Fairleigh Dickinson University), MBA (Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania), J.D. (Rutgers University) Mr. Widmark is a Professor at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University where he has taught for over 25 years. He is president of Mark Properties, Inc. which owns and manages shopping centers and office buildings throughout ten states. Mr. Widmark is the founder and Managing Partner of a venture invesment fund in Argentina.

Mr. Widmark served as president of Galesi Real Estate and Kerr Concrete Pipe Company. He previously practiced law in New Jersey and has taught estate planning courses at the Rutgers University School of Law.

 

R. Alexander Gomez, Founder and President

Alexander Gomez is the inventor of D-H.E.L.P. and is the founder of New Wave Surgical. He has spent over 12 years intimately involved in operating rooms  where he has observed and assisted in thousands of operations with hundreds of different surgeons. In 1998 he became a Certified Surgical Technologist. Alexander Gomez then went on to receive his Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Massachusetts in 2002. He completed his degree in three years, Magna Cum Laude. In 2002 he moved to New York City where he began his medical education at Weill Cornell University Medical College and the New York Presbyterian Hospital. Mr. Gomez was subsequently elected and then re-elected President of the class from 2002-2005. As class president, he gained a great deal of experience managing highly educated individuals, working with physician faculty, and administrators. During his medical training Alexander Gomez worked closely with many surgical residents and nationally recognized surgeons. He has over the years created a personal network of physicians and future physicians that extends into many of the leading hospitals in the country.

Alexander Gomez founded the Company in 2003 and is sole inventor of the three issued patents covering D-H.E.L.P. From its founding, Alexander has supervised every aspect of New Wave Surgical, including product development, establishing the manufacturing process,  raising funding, and generating the great majority of  initial sales. He has a clear vision of where technology and medicine are headed and an acute knowledge of the operating room. His ability to motivate people and have them believe in New Wave has been invaluable for growing New Wave Surgical.

 

Matt Sokany, Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Matt Sokany has an extensive background in the Medical Device Market with over 30 years in the industry.  The majority of that time, 24+ years was spent with two divisions of Johnson & Johnson, Ethicon and Ethicon Endo Surgery Division.  Matt’s experience included leading the Sales and Marketing Departments at Ethicon Endo Surgery during its rapid growth in the 1990s through early 2006.

During this period of growth, 17 major product launches occurred under Matt’s leadership including the acquisition and relaunch of the Harmonic Scapel.  Matt now is a partner in a Medical Device Consulting firm, SSN LLC where they work closely with medical device firms in launch strategy as well as strategic planning.

 

Michael López, Comptroller & Secretary to the Board

Mr. López serves as New Wave’s Comptroller, and Secretary to the Board of Directors. He has been involved in all operational aspects, working closely with the founder of New Wave, Alexander Gomez to help guide and support all operational activities.  Mr. López’s corporate experience includes his hands-on management of construction companies both in the United States and Puerto Rico.  Beginning with his family’s home-building business he eventually operated his own contracting company in Puerto Rico.  On the Mainland, he was an early member of the New York inner city rehabilitation movement.  Mr. López founded and operated a multimillion-dollar, five-borough construction enterprise.  In 1983, he was named New York City’s, “Minority Contractor of the Year“.  In addition to his construction and background, Mr. López has owned and operated a property management and land development firm in New York City.

Mr. López provides New Wave’s management team with invaluable experience and knowledge of the corporate administrative process, financial planning, analysis and budget administration. During the three years, his extensive knowledge of corporate operations, personnel and contract administration has enabled New Wave to establish a firm and stable economic foundation.
